On Actual Palm Fronds
These artistic wall hangings are made from actual palm fronds.
As a palm tree grows, its branches dry and are trimmed leaving a wonderful natural
wood-like shell. After careful consideration of each palm frond's condition
and three dimensional shape and size, the palm frond is then prepared for painting.
This by itself is a very time consuming process. Sonia then paints the surface,
incorporating its shape and size into each painting. After the palm frond is
painted it is then sealed both front and back for long lasting durability. The
paintings are great for home decorating and gift giving because of the uniqueness
of each piece. Sonia paints a wide variety of themes, including many animals,
tropical, marine life and other nature related topics and is always expanding
her portfolio with new ideas and creativity.

Artist Presents Her Biography
A resident of Brevard County, Florida, Sonia Larson graduated
from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City with a bachelors degree
in fine arts. She moved to Florida, from New York, after having a successful
career in fashion design. She is a strong advocate of the arts and realizes
the importance of having the freedom to be creative. Sonia also has a passion
for nature and wildlife and is a member of several organizations that help support
Florida's beauty and natural diversity.
